Massage heals the body through the therapeutic effects of touch. Touch is our first sense to develop in utero and the last sense to leave us before we die; it is the only sense we cannot live without. Touch is imperative for our development as babies, but this need for touch does not go away as we get age. The power of healing through touch has been used for centuries to remedy ailments and imbalances in the body. Touch is as important to infants as eating and sleeping. We need to nourish ourselves not only through the food we eat.
I believe in a holistic approach to healing where the human body is most repaired, relaxed and revived when mind, body and spirit are working well together.
Massage releases muscular and emotional tension. It stimulates the immune system, boosts circulation and aids relaxation; helping the body release toxins and promote general good health. It can help with symptoms such as pain, headaches, stress, insomnia, muscle stiffness, period pain, depression, circulatory problems and fatigue. Those suffering from mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety, can benefit from the decrease in cortisol and increase in dopamine experienced during a massage. Whether for enjoyment, or more remedial purposes, massage can be a powerful form of achieving well being.
I provide massage treatments, and baby massage classes, from a garden studio in Forest Hill. I holistically assess all clients to offer the best course of treatment to rebalance, and restore, both body and mind.
